When play begins:
say "You sit up. You don't remember anything. Amnesia? Are you serious?! Your head hurts like hell. You're outside... on a roof or something..."

The description of the player is "You're wearing a black tuxedo, there is no tie. You have sneakers on for some reason. Your head aches like crazy, as does the rest of your body. There is a wound above your ear that is still bleeding, it is a shallow cut. All dressed up and nowhere to go."

The description of the sneakers is "The obvious compliment to the tuxedo: Bright, red Converse All-Stars."

The Knife is carried by the player. The description is "You don't remember owning a knife like this... It is very worn but very sharp. There are bloodstains along the edge."
The Keycard is carried by the player. The description is "This is your room key, most likely. Someone has written 2-B on it with sharpie, for the slow people."

The Balcony is a room. "[if unvisited]The balcony overlooks the street-level, which isn't too far below you. The fall would hurt, however. To the north is a sliding glass door that leads into the motel. To the east is a fire-escape ladder thingy. It's dark out and it's pretty humid. Oh look, there's a corpse! [else]"

The description of the sliding glass door is "It's glass. It slides. It's a door."

The Fire Escape Ladder is east of the balcony. The fire escape ladder is scenery. Through it is the Back Alley.

The Second Floor Hallway is north of the balcony.
"You are in a hallway. There are a number of dingy light fictures that are doing a satisfactory job of lighting the surroundings. The ceiling is noticably water-stained, and the red wallpaper hints that the carpet may have once been a similar shade. The door to the east is marked 2-A, the one to the west says 2-B. South is a sliding glass door that leads to the balcony. At the other end of the hall is a staircase leading downward."

The 2-A Door is east of the second floor hallway and west from room 2-A. The 2-A Door is a door. The 2-A door is scenery.
Room 2-A is a room.

The 2-B Door is west of the second floor hallway and east from room 2-B. The 2-B Door is a door. The 2-B door is scenery.
Room 2-B is a room.

The First Floor Hallway is down from the second floor hallway. "This hallway is very similar to the one on the second floor. One of the lights is broken, but to compensate, it's a bit more cleaner in general. There is a door towards the northwest end of the hallway. A door to the south leads to the outside of the hotel, this is the main (and probably the only) exit. The door to the east says 1-A, the door to the west says 1-B."

Room 1-A is east from the first floor hallway.

Room 1-B is west from the first floor hallway.

The Bellhop's Quarters is northwest from the first floor hallway.
